The General Theological Seminary, in partnership with Interweave, will present the award-winning film, Journey of the Universe: The Epic Story of Cosmic, Earth and Human Transformation in Seabury Auditorium at General Seminary on Saturday evening, February 9 at 7 p.m. A discussion led by author/storyteller, Jennifer Morgan, will follow the screening.
This brilliant documentary re-imagines the creation of the universe and reframes the profound role humans play in the cosmos. Created by a renowned team of scientists, scholars and award-winning filmmakers, Journey of the Universe was filmed on the Greek island of Samos, the birthplace of Pythagoras.
Evolutionary philosopher, theoretical physicist and master storyteller, Brian Thomas Swimme, narrates the film he co-wrote with Yale religion historian, Mary Evelyn Tucker. Swimme connects big-picture issues – from the birth of the cosmos 14 billion years ago, to the invisible frontiers of the human genome, to our current impact on Earth’s evolutionary dynamics – inspiring us to pursue a closer relationship with Earth in a period of growing environmental and social crises.
A suggested donation of $10.00 will be collected at the door.
