From the Dean: The Postponement of the Funeral of the Rev. Roger Gentile
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
The Rev. Andrew Blume has forwarded to me the following message, which was sent to the members of his parish.
February 7, 2013
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Due to the forecast for severe winter weather over the next few days, and in consultation with the Bishop and Father Gentile’s family, we have decided to postpone Father Gentile’s Requiem a week.
Solemn Pontifical Requiem Mass will now be sung for the repose of Father Gentile’s soul on Saturday, 16 February 2013, at 2 PM at the Church of Saint Ignatius of Antioch. The Rt Rev’d Andrew M. L. Dietsche will celebrate and the Choir of Saint Ignatius of Antioch will offer the music of the mass. Clergy are welcome to vest in choir dress and process.
A Vigil will be held at Saint Ignatius on the preceding evening, Friday, 15 February from 5:00 to 6:30 PM and will conclude with our scheduled Friday Lenten liturgy of Stations of the Cross and Benediction.
The Church of Saint Ignatius of Antioch is located on 87th Street between Broadway and West End Avenue. Please pass along this email to anyone you think would be interested.
May Roger’s soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
Faithfully yours,
Andrew C. Blume+
Would you please make this information known to friends of Father Gentile who are beyond the scope of our broadcast email list? Thank you.
