For churches, this is a money time of year. Parishes are beginning annual pledge campaigns and teaching about financial stewardship. Vestries are drafting 2014 budgets. Heating bills are rising with cooler weather and harvest dinners cooked in church kitchens.
Is your faith community effectively using digital technology for pledging and giving?
GTS Digital Formation invites you to learn about online resources for digital giving and financial stewardship by joining the second webinar of the 2013-14 series Equipping Digital Saints. To be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the free webinar, Digital Giving and Financial Stewardship, will explore various options for online giving. The webinar will also teach you about options for mobile credit card payments at parish events.
GTS Digital Formation is The General Theological Seminary’s initiative to help clergy and lay leaders throughout The Episcopal Church appreciate the theological foundations and effectiveness of social media and digital technology for gospel proclamation and ministry. Leading the program is the Rev. Colin Chapman, GTS ’12, Digital Missioner.
The 2013-14 GTS Digital Formation program includes the Equipping Digital Saints series consisting of six webinars and “Quick How To” videos posted monthly on GTS Digital Formation’s YouTube channel. For October, Chapman has been teaching viewers, in less than four minutes, how to get sermons from the pulpit to SoundCloud, an online audio-sharing platform; click here to learn quickly. Additionally, Chapman will be live tweeting during General Seminary’s two named lectures this year, the Paddock Lectures and the Kay Butler Gill Lecture in Christian Spirituality, both of which will address the interrelationship in the twenty-first century of digital technology and religion.
Here is the complete schedule of the 2013-14 GTS Digital Formation offerings:
