The Rev. Canon Titus Presler ’79, D.D. ’03, who has served The General Theological Seminary in many roles, including faculty member and Sub-Dean from 2005-2009, has been subjected to physical attack and threats in Peshawar, Pakistan, where he is Principal of Edwardes College.
He has been a strong supporter and advocate for the survivors of the September 22 suicide bombings at All Saints’ Church in Peshawar that killed 128 and wounded about 160 parishioners. He has consistently helped the Church voice the need for religious harmony in the polarized society.
Presler has served our whole Communion as a scholar and educator. Importantly for GTS, he is the father-in-law of MDiv Senior Steven Lee ’14. Let us join with Steven and his family as they offer this prayer:
As Titus Presler awaits permission to leave Pakistan, we ask that:
God’s peace be with him to keep his spirits high;
God’s grace protect him in Pakistan and on his eventual journey home;
This community, friends, and family lift up the example of his faithful Christian witness.
The dangers and difficulties that Presler and others have faced in Pakistan are reported by the Anglican News Service here.
Presler’s latest reflections on standing with Christians in Pakistan are reported in his blog post here.
