Matriculation 2016 at General Seminary [PHOTOS]

At a service on the evening of September 29, 2016, entering students at The General Theological Seminary signed the Matriculation Book, the same book signed by the first class in 1822 and every entering class since. As “St. Patrick’s Breastplate” was played on the organ and sung by the congregation, each student processed to the front of the Chapel as the General Seminary community witnessed his or her matriculation being recorded in the venerable book.

After the service, a festive Matriculation reception and dinner was held, continuing the tradition of toasts, speeches, joyful recognition, and welcoming of the newest members of the GTS community. The joy of this great event was evident in the atmosphere and on the faces of the students as they joined the story of General Seminary.
