Preaching Paul This Fall: Weekly Explorations of the Sunday Lectionary Readings

The Rev. Dr. Todd Brewer, Assistant Professor of New Testament at The General Theological Seminary, is teaching a course on the Sunday Epistle readings from Paul. Audio episodes of these weekly lectures will be posted on GTS News and as a podcast that can be downloaded weekly. This podcast is the first of a series of audio posts that will parallel the Eucharistic lectionary readings for the upcoming Sundays.

Preaching Paul This Fall
Paul was, first and foremost, an evangelist and preacher of the Gospel. The sermon is at the heart of Paul’s missionary activity and church planting. This course explores the various ways in which the fall readings of the RCL, Year C, might be preached today. How do the concerns and theological vision, as expressed in the “Pauline” letters of 1 and 2 Timothy, 2 Thessalonians, and Philemon, connect with our modern lives and society? What criticisms might they offer?
