Dear Members of The General Theological Community,
Congratulations from The Church Club of New York on approaching your 200th Anniversary!
In July, we too, will be celebrating a milestone anniversary – our 130th. Some of you may be familiar with the Church Club and many of you may have never heard of it. After 130 years, the Church Club may be New York’s and the Diocese’s best kept secret. When it was originally founded in 1887, only male Lay Episcopalians could be members of the Church Club. In the 1970’s that changed and women were permitted to join as well as laity of other faiths. As times continue to change socially, culturally and in other ways, the Church Club has had the wisdom to be open to change, as well.
At our Annual Meeting last June, Church Club members voted to admit Episcopal Clergy to its membership. As we approach our 130th year, our goal is to make the Church Club and all the benefits that come with it (great programming, fellowship, education, service, Young Adult of the Year Award, and the opportunity to visit and worship at different parishes), better known in the diocese and the broader tri-state area. We offer Seminarians and their spouses a special membership rate of $45/person along with discounts on our many events.
We hope you will consider joining the Church Club. Click here for more information about Church Club Membership.
