Art Powell ’83 Named Honorary Canon in New Jersey

The Rev. Canon Arthur P. Powell, Class of 1983, has been named an Honorary Canon of Trinity Cathedral in the Diocese of New Jersey. The title was awarded at the 233rd Diocesan Convention in recognition of Powell’s long and dedicated service to the diocese.

Powell has served as rector of Holy Apostles in Yardville, NJ (formerly St. James Church and St. Matthias Church) since 1990. He previously served as rector of The Church of the Holy Communion, Fair Haven, and as Vicar/Curate of St. Martin in the Fields, Lumberton/St. Andrew’s, Mount Holly.

Prior to his call to ordained ministry and studies at General, he received a degree in Sociology from Rutgers University, Camden College of Arts and Sciences, with an emphasis in psychological anthropology.
