In response to C. Andrew Doyle, Bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of Texas, who reached out to us about Hurricane Harvey relief, the General Seminary campus created a campaign to raise money for Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) and specifically, their Hurricane Relief Fund. While the impetus for the fundraiser was Hurricane Harvey, we are grateful that the money we raised will go to the same programs that support Hurricane Irma and most recently Hurricane Maria. During our community Eucharist on September 12, we blessed the donations and sent them with love and prayers to Episcopal Relief and Development. Many students, faculty and staff members made their donation immediately online. We received nearly $800 in cash and checks that have been mailed to ERD and are unable to calculate the total amount raised including online donations, as we recommended direct donations through the ERD website. Our continued prayers go out to all those affected, first responders, and those engaged in the hard work of reconstruction.

Loving and merciful God, you bestow your grace on all of your children: Remember our sisters and brothers throughout the world who, in partnership with Episcopal Relief & Development, strengthen communities, empower the poor, nourish the hungry, restore the sick and uplift those affected by disaster; and uphold Episcopal Relief & Development for the next seventy-five years, so that your Kingdom might be known to all people; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
