The General Theological Seminary held its 194th Commencement on May 11, 2016. Thirteen women and men received degrees, diplomas, and certificates conferred by the Seminary’s Dean and President, the Very Rev. Kurt H. Prof. Robert Owens Webcast about Cyrus Cylinder Now Available to Watch Online

The Cyrus Cylinder, a small, cylinder-shaped baked clay tablet inscribed with Akkadian cuneiform from the 6th century BCE, is arguably one of the most important texts and objects from the Ancient Near Eastern world. Sometimes called “the first declaration of human rights,” the Cyrus Cylinder, housed at the British Museum, is currently touring museums in the United States, and will be on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City beginning June 20.  Read more...

The General Theological Seminary held its 191th Commencement on May 15, 2013. Forty-six women and men received degrees, diplomas, or certificates conferred by the Seminary’s Associate Dean, the Rev. Dr. Patrick Malloy. The Seminary’s honorary doctorate was conferred on the Reverend Carol Anderson, the Right Reverend Andrew M. L. Dietsche, and the Right Reverend Dorsey W. M. McConnell.

VIDEO: Recording of Turkey Trip Webinar Now Online

This past January, GTS students, professors, alumni/ae, trustees, and friends traveled to Turkey to tour archaeological finds at ancient cities that were important centers for the development of earliest Christianity. The webinar, which is available now online, presented photos and reflections from the group of travelers, and it gave the wider community an opportunity to reflect with trip participants about what they saw, experienced, and most of all, took away from the trip.  Read more...
