The Rev. Peter J. D’Alesandre, Class of 1969, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence, RI at the age of 73.
Father Peter’s ministry began at Grace Church in Delavan, WI, and included All Saints Church in Kansas, City; Christ the King Church in Huntington, IN; St. Barnabas Church in Warwick, RI; St. Matthew Church in Ashland, OH; St. Mark’s Church in Storrs, CT; and St. John’s Cathedral in Taipei, Taiwan. He had been the Vicar at Grace Episcopal Church in Yantic, CT, for ten years at the time of his passing. He was canonically resident in the Diocese of Ohio. His interests included Chinese, spoken and written, historical literature and British sports cars.
Father D’Alesandre was a graduate of Stuyvesant High School in NYC and received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Lehigh University. After studies at General, he graduated from Nashotah House Seminary, was ordained to the Deaconate in June 1970, and ordained a Priest at All Saints Cathedral in Milwaukee in December 1970.
He had been married to Janet H. (Judge) D’Alesandre for 48 years. Born in New York City, Father D’Alesandre was the son of the late John J. and Marie E. (Klein) D’Alesandre. In addition to his dedicated wife, Peter is survived by their children, of whom he was so proud: Michael C. D’Alesandre of North Providence; Katherine H. D’Alesandre of Las Vegas, NV; Gregory B. D’Alesandre of San Francisco; and Claire D. Atwell (Eric) of Sterling, VA; as well as a sister: Merideth J. Morris (Rikk) Erwin, TN, and a cherished grandchild: Colin J. Atwell.
His Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, May 22, 2017, at 10 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, Four Chapel Hill Road, Yantic, CT, by the Rt. Rev. Laura J. Ahrens, Suffragan Bishop of CT. Burial followed in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
